This game was made as an entry to the Godot Wild Jam #76 - Freeze
Premise:
The prince has taken all the yarn of the village for himself as he wants his royal knitters to knit him fancy carpets for his castle. Robin "Xmas" Sweaters is here to save the day! Help the poor of the village get their yarn back so the grandmas of the village can knit ugly sweaters for their children to let them survive the harsh winter.
Theme:
Theme -> As premise; help the poor villagers not freeze to death this winter
Wildcards:
Silent Night -> Guards hear and see you. Walk slower to make less loud footsteps for them to hear. You can tell if you've made quiet or loud footprints by the size of the footprints in the snow.
UI is REAL -> Self explanatory
Advent Calendar -> A garden gnome is hidden somewhere in the level. It has 8 possible locations and depend on your system's day
Notes:
After being unable to find a good balance between a zoom level that allows you to see enough of the map to not be frustrated by being jumped by nights, and a zoom level that allows you to appreciate my art, I've decided on a "quick fix". If you stand still for more than 3 seconds, the camera will zoom in far for you to have a better look at the art if so desired :D
Post Jam Update:
- Major performance issue has been resolved!
- Movement system has been updated! Rather than accelerate towards faster and louder footsteps as you walk, you now just have 2 fixed speeds you can move at. A run and a sneak. You toggle between these with the SHIFT key.
- The map reflects this change with a bit more space at the beginning of the map to allow for new relevant control hints
- The interaction hitbox for the cold bunny families and carts have been increased slightly
- Fixed the pathfinding around 2 houses which knights could get stuck in, in the original version
